FUN! FUN! FUN!

As avid fans of Yo Gabba Gabba it's only natural that we would be interested in anything that the Jacobs brothers create. It was a sad day when my daughter no longer cared about Yo Gabba Gabba, so it's nice to have something new to peak her curiosity and interest.
Welcome to Goon Holler is a wonderful follow up to the Goon Holler Guidebook. It's a single, stand-alone story that shows how the main character (a giant Sasquatch/sloth-like creature named Toobaloth C. Grassfoot, aka - Tooba) comes to find the wacky place known as "Goon Holler", which is inhabited by strange creatures called "goons". There's also a little girl that lives there named "Dosie" (how she got there isn't explained in this particular book). Tooba learns from Dosie that the goons are rather crazy and only interested in having fun. I don't want to give away the whole story, but in the end he saves the day with a little bit of quick, creative thinking and makes Goon Holler is new home.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves Yo Gabba Gabba. If you never followed that show then I would still recommend this book as a great introduction into the world of the Jacobs brother's creative minds. It's a colorful, fun, humorous story that doesn't take itself too seriously (there's no deep moral or life-lesson here...or if there is I missed it. I'm sure one could be mined from it, like finding ways to be helpful or trying to help others, but the story doesn't try to knock you over the head with it). Hopefully this is the first book of many more to come and also the beginnings of a new TV series.
My only one small caveat with the story is the breakfast that Tooba attends in which they're eating bacon, eggs and pancakes. We're vegetarians, so when my daughter heard they were eating bacon and eggs she was a little disturbed. I just told her they were tofu (smile). I'm sure this won't be a big deal for many readers, but it would have been nice if that part of the story could have been more universal or sensitive to people that don't eat meat. Of course it's also an opportunity for me to teach my daughter that everyone is different and that we shouldn't criticize people for what they eat, how they look, how they speak, etc.

A really fun story I won't mind reading again and again

I bought this for my 8 year old...but he hasn't been able to read it yet because I can't get it away from my 15 and 17 year olds. A really fun story I won't mind reading again and again, paired with subtly detailed artwork that draws in kids of all ages. Hope this one gets made into a TV show!

My 6 year old is a huge Aquabats Aquacadet, making Welcome to Goon Holler an absolute no brainier of a purchase! The Jacobs Brothers are
So in tune with what makes kids laugh, giggle and wait for each page turn with baited breath. It would be criminal to "review" this book here since it's too much fun, and I have no desire to ruin it for anyone. So, buy the book, make some pancakes and enjoy!!
