Amazon.com Review
"Sometimes I feel silly ... Sometimes I feel cranky ... Sometimes I feel like kissing a sea lion." There are so many different ways to feel, and author-illustrator Todd Parr believes people should not keep their feelings to themselves: "Share them with someone you love."
Big round heads, stick-figure bodies, bold outlines, and vibrant colors mark the work of the creator of such lovably goofy books as The Okay Book and Zoo Do's and Don'ts. Straightforward feelings (lonely, scared, brave) are interspersed with less conventional, but equally valid feelings ("Sometimes I feel like standing on my head"), encouraging children to identify and label their constantly shifting emotions. Grownups can validate young readers as they read and chuckle together and discuss all the feelings they might experience in a given day. Parr's childlike illustrations are tremendously appealing to one and all. (Ages 3 to 6) --Emilie Coulter
From School Library Journal
PreSchool-Grade 2-Both of these small, simple, and sometimes very silly books feature brightly colored single-page cartoons of stick-figure-styled animals, people, and faces. In the first title, Parr shows that feelings are always changing. "Sometimes I feel like standing on my head" and "Sometimes I feel like celebrating my birthday even though it's not today" mix with "Sometimes I feel lonely" and "Sometimes I feel cranky." On the last page, the author encourages readers to share their feelings with "-someone you love." Overall, this is a nice addition to titles about the topic. In Underwear, Parr continues his series of books about "Do's and Don'ts." One double-page spread couples "Do Wash your underwear" with "Don't Use too much soap." Another advises, "Do Go shopping for underwear with a hippo" but "Don't Let her try it on," accompanied by an illustration of a hippo in ripped panties, size XL. This zany title is sure to send listeners into peals of laughter during storytime.

Not About Emotions
By Logan D
The illustrations in this book are fun, but if you are looking for a book to teach your kid about emotions, this is not the book for you. There are a few emotions included (scared, brave, cranky, lonely, and silly), but most of the "feelings" are more about wanting to do certain activities. These include things like "Sometimes I feel like eating pizza for breakfast." and "Sometimes I feel like kissing a sea lion." It's cute, but it's not what I expected from a book called "The Feelings Book."
If you are looking for a book to teach your baby/toddler about emotions, I highly recommend the Playschool book "Baby Faces" (sorry it is not currently available on Amazon, so I can't include a link, but the ISBN is 0525455450, if you search for that, it will come up, and there may be used copies available). For toddlers and young children I recommend "Big Feelings" (available through the Talaris Institute Parenting Counts, not Amazon) as well as the series by Marcia Leonard including "I Feel Sad," "I Feel Scared," "I Feel Angry," and "I Feel Happy" (again, can't post a link, but if you search for the author + title, they come up). The Talaris Institute (Parenting Counts) also has a board book of baby emotions, but I haven't seen it and can't recommend it.
Edited to add that I did end up purchasing the Baby Feelings book from Parenting Counts and it is excellent.

A Fun book for introducing Conversations about Feelings
By gayle h. swift
The Feelings Book by Todd Parr features his signature boldly colorful, zany artwork and effectively captures an array of emotions. Books like this help provide kids with a broad vocabulary for the multitude of feelings that people experience. This helps them convey, share, and deal with their emotions and is an essential part of emotional literacy. Concludes with a reminder to share feelings and not keep them bottled up inside, something which is important for to remember whether one is a child or an adult.
Adoption-attuned Lens: Emotional literacy is a vital skill for all of us. It is especially important that adoptive families become well-practiced in exploring, sharing and talking about feelings, especially those connected to adoption. These emotions are complex and intense and enmeshed in the experience and feelings of other family members. This can make it difficult to discuss because one might fear upsetting other family members. Kids sometimes choose to protect others at the expense of their own emotional and mental health.
Adoptive families must encourage conversations about emotions and ensure that all feelings are valid. Specifically discuss how something that makes one family member happy can make another sad or angry. For example, parents can be overjoyed that they were able to adopt a child while the child may have a range of feelings about it. These feelings most certainly will include loss, grief and probably some anger as well. Accept that these feelings can coexist; they do not void each other.
