Written during a time when "open marriage" [The Harrad Experiment by Rimmer] was touted as the mature way to a fulfilling marriage, Masters and Johnson acknowledged that some couples may be able to 'swing' indefinitly wihout spitting up; but a more rewarding route is stay committed and open with your partner and grow in understanding and love with that person. Mulltiple partners may be fun, but relationships and growth remain shallow. I kinda like this novel idea. Masters and Johnson had it right. Even it was written over 40 yrs ago, it's as readable and provocative as it was then.

Talking to your teenagers.

There are chapters in this book explaining why teenagers think their first boyfriend or girlfriend makes them feel so good. We stop touching our kids when they get too big to sit on our laps and their first boyfriend or girlfriend holds their hand, puts their arm around them and makes them remember those good feelings of childhood. I used this book to explain to my teenagers that that feeling was normal and didn't mean that they were "in love" . That was over 30 years ago, but still true.
